There is no medical research to support the practice of pet revaccination every one to three years. The last kitten or puppy vaccines should be called the permanent adult shots. Studies show pets vaccinated only as kittens and pups are protected against getting disease just as well as those pets revaccinated every year

Duration of Immunity to Canine Vaccines:
What We Know and Don't Know

It has been common practice since the development of canine vaccines in the late 1950's to administer them annually. The recommendation to vaccinate annually was based on the assumption that immunity would wane in some dogs, thus to ensure immunity in the population, all dogs required revaccination since it was not practical to test each animal for antibody. Little or no research has been done to demonstrate that the practice of annual revaccination has any scientific value in providing greater immunity than would be present if an animal was never revaccinated or was revaccinated at intervals longer than one year.

Homeopathic pet vaccines
Homeopathy is based on the delusional notion that the more a substance is diluted, the more powerful it becomes as a remedy, even if not a single molecule of the original material remains. Products designated "30C" are made by repeatedly diluting the original material 1-to-100 thirty times. This would the equivalent of placing one molecule of the original substance in a container 30 billion times the volume of the earth. In 1994, Dr. Stephen Barrett and 41 other critics petitioned the FDA to ban the sale of such products. http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/homeopetition/homeopetition.html
Homeopathic pet vaccines are sold called nosodes. There is no evidence these products work. The USA government allows nosode vaccine sale since when they are tested in the lab they contain nothing but sterile water so saftey is not a concern.

At our clinic we do not sell you unnecessary treatments, products, vaccines, or services. This is to our financial detriment, but we believe that a treatment or product MUST have scientific evidence showing the risks, benefits and costs before we will recommend that product or treatement. Of course, the benefits must outweigh the risks. We call our practice Evidence Based Medicine.
This blog is an attempt to uncover the truths about dog and cat vaccines. I will post information whenever I find studies that either confirm or deny the existence of any benefits of a particular vaccine. You can also view my web site at Evidence Based Medicine
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Dr. Arthur Malernee
